ETA3107 high-current flat alligator clip, the toothed design has a stronger grip. Bare alligator clips have no voltage rating because they do not have any insulation. ETA ETA makes insulating sheaths for most of its clips, but the insulating sheaths only protect users working on the circuit. Most of the insulators we sell are designed to prevent clips from only contacting other conductive items. Usually our insulators have a dielectric breakdown voltage of at least 3kV, but the jaws of most clamps are still fully exposed and potentially dangerous. Therefore, it is not recommended to connect or disconnect its clip to make its voltage higher than 42 volts. If the clip is used in a handheld test environment, the clip with the insulator installed can be safely used up to 3kV. The handheld test environment means that the clip can only be connected or not connected when the circuit is not energized.
The reasons why ETA insulators cannot meet the requirements for human protection under high voltage are as follows:
-In order to meet the requirements of the IEC61010-031, the insulator needs to be permanently installed (cannot be opened or closed or removed)
-Protective devices must be placed at a specified distance to prevent accidental contact with exposed metal parts
-Finger probes applied at any angle are not allowed to touch any current carrying exposed metal
-Need to maintain clearance and creepage distance.
